The Master of Arts in Church Ministries is a two year (60 semester hours) program of studies that prepares you for a variety of ministries in a church or church related institution, including pastoral ministry or a particular area of church ministry (for example: Christian education, missions, pastoral counseling, youth, evangelism and discipleship).

The Master of Arts in Church Ministries degree can be earned at the Jacksonville, Texas campus. In addition, many courses for this degree can be taken online, through intensive Motion courses, or in other distance education formats.

Who Is It For?

The Master of Arts in Church Ministries program allows the student to prepare for a number of ministerial opportunities. The program is recommended for those who are studying for any of the following ministries:

  • Minister of Christian Education
  • Minister of Youth
  • Minister of Outreach/Discipling
  • Minister of Evangelism
  • Campus Minister
  • Pastor or Associate Pastor
  • Missionary
  • Pastoral Counselor

Goals for This Degree

Upon satisfactory completion of the Master of Arts in Church Ministries program the graduate should be able to accomplish the following objectives:

  • Minister competently as a pastor, associate pastor, or as a pastoral counselor to a local church congregation.
  • Minister on a professional level as a minister of education or minister of youth in a church or church related institution.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in the field of Christian ministry and education in various contexts of and support roles required in Christian ministry.
  • Understand and be able to communicate biblical and theological truths in the context of Christian ministry.
  • Demonstrate personal growth and spiritual maturity as needed for leading various Church ministries.
  • Function at an acceptable level in further professional studies in Christian ministry.

  • Master of Arts in Church Ministries (M.A.C.M.) Requirements (60 Hours)

    No more than three courses numbered 300-400 may be taken. The remainder must be courses numbered 500-600.
    The candidate for the Master of Arts in Church Ministries degree must complete a minimum of twenty-four semester hours of classroom work in residence at BMA Seminary.
    Up to twenty-seven (27) semester hours of work may be transferred from an accredited institution toward the Master of Arts in Church Ministries degree.

    Students my substitute an approved Clinical Pastoral Education, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Education, or Missions internship for PM 532.
